Overview of Position:

Our Supply Chain team is in need of 2 Junior to Intermediate Buyers to support procurement of materials, supplies and equipment for various Dynamic Structures projects in accordance with established policies and procedures.

This role assists senior members of the Purchasing Department with preparing purchase orders, soliciting bid proposals, and reviewing requisitions for goods and services while ensuring the fair price and quality of purchased goods and services. 

The Buyer will interface with our Engineering and Product Development groups to provide expertise and support to forge and maintain vendor relationships and to lead best practices. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure purchasing policies are followed and purchases are documented accordingly;
  • Generates purchase orders in order to ensure project schedules are met;
  • Following up with suppliers on a daily basis to ensure supplies arrive on time in accordance with Purchase Order date to support production schedule;
  • Updates all internal systems to reflect PO submittals and alterations;
  • Expedite delivery of orders and/or make special arrangements for delivery to meet projects schedules;
  • Confer with staff and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or service and determine corrective action;
  • Administer contracts and NDA’s with suppliers;
  • Arrange meetings and follow up on tasked actions;
  • Procure and manage inventory levels of production consumables; iinvestigate of alternate sources and product substitutions when necessary;
  • Recommends product substitutes where there will be cost savings and/or improved delivery results;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Completion of a 2-year diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management , or equivalent;
  • 2 or more years’ experience as a purchasing agent;
  • Experience working with Fabtrol and Filemaker will be an asset;
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing standards, policies, procedures and strategies;
  • Knowledge  in Microsoft Excel & Word, and database utilization;
  • Outstanding multitasking and time management skills;
  • The drive and dedication to succeed in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
