Overview of Position:

Our Manufacturing team is in need of a Production Planner to establish methods, sequence and timeframe of manufacturing operations in order to meet project requirements. The Production Planner reviews contract delivery requirements, shipping needs, plant capacity and inventory before creating schedules.

This role reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering & Development and will have a clear project focus. This role works in conjunction with the Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to achieve objectives required to aid economically sound production of existing and new product development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate production workflow for multiple concurrent projects in different stages of production;
  • Plan and prioritize Supply Chain and Production operations to ensure maximum efficiency and zero downtime;
  • Continuous learning on market trends, product availability, technology trends and any major events which may impact our systems and production;
  • Work with suppliers on implementing and improving value-added services by means of stocking programs, JIT / KanBan systems, vendor-managed inventory programs, etc.
  • Monitor projects to ensure progress against schedule and budget. Identify, in advance, potential areas of delay and work with Supply Chain team to deliver a resolution;
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit project status and performance reports.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Completion of a diploma or certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent;
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain operations within steel manufacturing and production operations;
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams;
  • Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind;
  • Proficiency in MS Excel including experience with pivot tables and formulas;
  • Experience working with Fabtrol and Filemaker;
  • Knowledge of purchasing standards, policies, procedures and strategies, procurement strategies, supply management philosophy and techniques;
  • Outstanding multitasking and time management skills ;
  • The drive and dedication to succeed in a fast-paced, high volume environment
